Letters of Recommendation

I am happy to write letters of recommendation for jobs or graduate schools for students who do well in my classes.  You should send a request either by email or by stopping by my office hours.  Please give me at least three weeks notice before your deadlines.  I also ask that you supply me with the following information so that I can write a well-informed letter for you.

1.)  A copy of your personal statement.  It doesn’t have to be finalized, but it should give me a very good sense of why you are applying to a particular program. (Tips for Writing Personal Statements for Graduate School)

2.)  An unofficial copy of your transcript.

3.)  Signed forms for the respective schools.

4.)  A confidentiality waiver.  (Note that I only write confidential letters.)

5.)  A list of schools/employers and addresses.

6.)  Clear information about deadlines.
